Florida’s primary election is on Tuesday, and the Florida Division of Elections plans for polls to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On Monday afternoon, Alina Garcia, Miami-Dade County’s supervisor of elections, was hard at work in her office at 2700 NW 87 Ave., in Doral.
“The voter turnout has not been optimal. We have 12.5% voter turnout. That’s between early voting and vote-by-mail that we have received,” Garcia said.
In Florida, supervisors of elections are required to count the voters’ ballots and also take a picture of the ballots.

“The state of Florida is considered the platinum standard for elections,” Garcia said about the checks and balances.
Voters, even those who don’t have a party affiliation, are set to vote on judges, commissioners, and school board members.
On Tuesday, registered voters have to cast their ballots at their assigned polling location. Vote-by-mail ballots have to be delivered to the supervisor of elections’ office no later than 7 p.m.

Here is the list of acceptable forms of identification:
- Florida driver’s license
- Florida ID card
- U.S. passport
- Military or student ID
- Retirement center identification
- Neighborhood association identification
- Public assistance identification
- Veteran health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs
- License to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued pursuant to s. 790.06
- Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the Federal Government, the state, a county, or a municipality.
