Brush fire ignites in western Broward County

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Crews responded to a brush fire that ignited in Broward County on Sunday.

The flames were located to the northwest of the intersection of Okeechobee Road and Krome Avenue.

As of 2 p.m. Sunday, officials said the fire had burned around 80 acres.

Police in Pembroke Pines warned residents about smoke that was heading toward the Lake Holly area, near Pines Boulevard and US-27.

Fire rescue crews were staging in the area as a precaution in case the fire approached and became a danger.
