Girl, 4, dies after drowning in Plantation lake

PLANTATION, Fla. — A 4-year-old girl drowned in a lake in a Plantation neighborhood on Sunday morning, according to police.

It happened at around 10 a.m. behind the girl’s home in the 500 block of Northwest 107th Avenue, within the Westport subdivision.

Plantation police said the girl’s father found her face-down in the lake, immediately began CPR and called 911.

Medics took the girl to Broward Health Medical Center, where doctors pronounced her dead.

“Based on the information gathered thus far, investigators believe this to be a tragic accidental drowning,” Plantation police said of their investigation.

Police have not released the young girl’s name as of Sunday afternoon.
