The 1 1/2-year-old, 39-pound pup is looking for a forever family where she can thrive.

Humane Society of Broward’s Cherie Wachter says Chickie came from another shelter, and while little is known about her past, medical records indicate she was born with one front leg significantly shorter than the other.

The leg was later amputated, and today, Chickie gets around remarkably well.

Wachter says she’s a little shy at first but is sweet, resilient, and surprisingly fast.

Because she relies on her remaining front leg for support, maintaining a healthy weight is especially important.

Wachter said Chickie would do best in a one-story home and may need help getting in and out of a car.

If you’re interested in adopting her, visit the Humane Society of Broward’s website and complete a pre-adoption application.
