Hurricanes’ catcher Alex Sosa named ACC Player of the Week

Miami enters the final week of the regular season in fifth place in the ACC, holding a 35-15 overall record that includes a 15-12 mark inside the conference.

Hurricanes catcher Alex Sosa was named the ACC’s Player of the Week for his efforts while leading Miami to a big series win over the Louisville Cardinals.

Sosa hit .692 during the series, going 9-for-13 at the plate with three home runs, two doubles, nine RBI and five runs scored during three-game series.

After transferring to Miami from North Carolina State, Sosa has had an excellent 2026 season.

He leads all Hurricanes players with 15 home runs while hitting .342 and racking up an impressive 62 RBI, 55 runs and 63 hits through his 50 games in Miami.

Sosa joins Derek Williams, Dylan Dubovik and Jake Ogden as Canes players to be named ACC Player of the Week this season.

For their final weekend series of the regular season, the Hurricanes will face a big test.

Miami heads to Tallahassee to face No. 11 Florida State in what promises to be a competitive few days of baseball.
