Marlins begin three-game series Monday against Dodgers

LOS ANGELES — Unable to take Sunday’s rubber match against the San Francisco Giants, the Miami Marlins (13-15) continue their West Coast trip as they turn their attention to the back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers (19-9), beginning Monday at 10:10 p.m. ET at UNIQLO Field at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers hit a small bump in the road before taking two of three games in their previous series against the Chicago Cubs.

Four-time MVP winner Shohei Ohtani snapped a 12-game home run drought with a solo blast in a 6-0 win over the Cubs on Sunday.

It was Ohtani’s longest stretch without a homer since joining the Dodgers before the 2024 season.

Right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (2-2, 2.48 ERA) will get the series going for Los Angeles. He won his lone start against the Marlins in 2024, allowing two runs over eight innings.

Manager Clayton McCullough will send veteran right-hander Chris Paddack (0-4, 6.38 ERA) to the mound as he looks to bounce back. The 30-year-old was tagged for eight hits and five runs over 4 2/3 innings in a 5-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on April 21 at loanDepot park.

He has allowed two or more runs in four of his five appearances this season.

Paddack is 1-4 with a 5.91 ERA in nine career starts against the Dodgers.

The Marlins are 1-2 on their current six-game trip, and their 3-9 road record currently ranks last in the National League.
