Cash register stolen during break-in at Fort Lauderdale dollar store

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A cash register, money from a tip jar and some drinks were stolen early Monday during a burglary at a dollar store in Fort Lauderdale, the owner of the business told Local 10 News.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, the burglary was reported at about 4:15 a.m. at the business in the 3600 block of Davie Boulevard.

The Dollar Stop owner said the thief or thieves smashed the glass front door before making their way inside.

Police said officers established a perimeter and detained a person of interest for questioning.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
