Dog fatally shot while attacking man in Miramar, cops say

MIRAMAR, Fla. — A dog died after being shot Friday in Miramar after police said it attacked a man.

Officers responded to the 1700 block of Southwest 87th Avenue after receiving a report of a shooting involving a man and a dog.

Miramar Police Department Chief Delrish Moss told Local 10 News that the dog was attacking the man, who initially tried to kick the animal off him. When the dog continued attacking, the man pulled out a gun and shot the dog, killing it, he said.

Moss clarified that the dog was not a loose animal. He said it belonged to a friend of the man who was attacked.

A woman also went to the hospital because she “wasn’t feeling well,” according to authorities.

Authorities said that woman was transported to a nearby hospital.

Police said no criminal charges are expected at this time.
