MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. — A driver has died after crashing his pickup truck into a storefront in Miami Springs early Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed to Local 10 News.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported just before 2:30 a.m. in the area of Northwest 36th Street and Lee Drive.
Deputies said Miami Springs police officers responded to the scene and discovered the driver was heading west on Northwest 36th Street, approaching Lee Drive, when the vehicle “traveled toward the right shoulder, entered the sidewalk, and struck a business storefront.”
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews also responded and transported the driver to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead, deputies said.

MDSO officials confirmed that detectives from their Traffic Homicide Bureau have assumed the investigation.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. The driver’s identity has not yet been released.
