Broward burglar who groped victim in her sleep cuffed after chase, crash, deputies say

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — A man suspected of breaking into a Pompano Beach woman’s home and groping her while she slept was arrested Wednesday after fleeing from deputies and crashing into another vehicle in North Miami, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office and an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News.

Stinley Jean Jacques, 27, of Pompano Beach, was identified by BSO as a suspect in the Aug. 16 home invasion incident “following days of intensive investigation” by the agency’s Special Victim’s Unit and their Pompano Beach Crime Suppression Team.

According to investigators, a woman was asleep at her home in the 2900 block of Northeast Seventh Avenue when she awoke to find a man touching her before he fled the scene.

Detectives said they used “a variety of investigative methods” to develop Jean Jacques as a possible suspect in that case.

They said a BSO deputy attempted to stop Jean Jacques while he was driving a white 2026 Nissan Altima. Jean Jacques then refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit, according to investigators.

The report states that Jean Jacques ran a red light at Opa-locka Boulevard and Northwest Sixth Court before crashing into a 2011 silver Mercedes-Benz.

The driver of the Mercedes suffered multiple injuries, including injuries to her lip, chest and ankle, according to the report. The vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damage, deputies said.

Investigators said Jean Jacques then fled the crash scene on foot, leaving the injured driver behind without providing his information or rendering aid.

They said he was later arrested by a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy in the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue.

The crash victim identified Jean Jacques as the driver during a show-up identification, according to his arrest report.

The report states that Jean Jacques’ driver’s license had been expired since Feb. 14, 2026, and that his driving privilege had been suspended for several reasons, including previous traffic-related cases.

Jail records show Jean Jacques was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving no serious injury, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, driving with an expired license for more than six months and knowingly driving with a suspended license.

He has not yet been charged in connection with the alleged Aug. 16 home invasion.

However, BSO officials said he is expected to be brought to Broward County to face additional charges related to that investigation, including burglary, battery, stalking and voyeurism.
