The giveaway, featuring the Miami Beach Senior High School graduate and sponsored by sports betting site DraftKings, took place at the Sunoco at 15290 NW Seventh Ave. in northwest Miami-Dade’s Biscayne Gardens area.
About 3,500 gallons of gas were made available to local drivers. One of them, Anthony Celestino, said it usually costs him about $100 to fill his tank.
He said the 45-minute wait was “worth it.”
“Come get your 100 bucks,” Celestino said. “It’s free.”
Johnson, known during a portion of his playing days as Chad Ochocinco for his jersey number of 85, spoke to Local 10 News reporter Jolena Esperto.
