Driver arrested following fatal crash on I-75 in Weston

A woman was arrested Sunday following a crash on Interstate 75 in Weston that left two people dead and others injured, including a 1-year-old child.

Online jail records show Cira Quinones Lewis, 60, faces charges of driving with a suspended license and failing to return driver’s license or register with insurance company. She is also being jailed on an immigration hold.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred late Sunday morning along the westbound lanes of I-75 to the west of Indian Trade Road.

A white Dodge sedan, a blue minivan and a motorcycle appeared to be involved in the collision.

Authorities confirmed that two people have died from their injuries, while three others were injured, including a 1-year-old girl who was hospitalized in critical condition.

All of the injured victims were taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale.

First responders closed all westbound lanes of I-75 while processing the scene. The highway fully reopened shortly after 4 p.m.

As of Monday morning, Quinones Lewis remained held at the Broward County Main Jail.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation, and it’s unclear which driver was at fault.
