Stefan Davis was the man who died after a crash involving a Miami-Dade deputy and a suspect wanted by the U.S. military happened near Northwest 51st Terrace and Northwest 33rd Avenue.

Surveillance video captured a car speeding through the area before the violent impact.

“I heard a boom,” said Norman Bradley, who was nearby at the time.

Other video angles show the force of the collision.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told Local 10 that deputies with the Robbery Intervention Unit were conducting a traffic stop when 21-year-old Luis Manuel Perez hit the gas and took off.

Perez was wanted for military desertion, according to deputies.

“When the car flipped on its side, we said, ‘Wow, what happened?’” Bradley said.

The crash left Davis seriously injured. He was rushed to the hospital, but later died.

The Nassau Guardian confirmed Davis’ identity and reported that he is a well-known artist from the Bahamas.

Friends say Davis loved spending time in Miami, especially around his birthday in early September.

Levin Wilson, a friend of Davis, said it is difficult to process the loss.

“Sorry to see such talent has left us in a tragic way,” Wilson said.

As of Thursday evening, Perez was being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
