Firefighter suffers ‘minor’ injuries during yacht fire in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A firefighter was injured while working to extinguish a fire on a 165-foot yacht on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale.

Firefighters responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday to the 2500 block of State Road 84, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

Crews worked their way down into the yacht’s engine room, and a firefighter suffered minor injuries, according to FLFR.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and took one of their own to a nearby hospital. The cause of the fire remained under investigation on Saturday night.
