MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A former Miami-Dade high school football coach who was most recently employed as a Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department officer was arrested Friday after authorities say he is accused of raping a student while she was under 18.

An arrest warrant from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday states that William Adam Jones, 46, of Hollywood, had a relationship with the girl afterwards that she described as “consensual.”
Records show he’s facing a first-degree felony charge of sexual battery by a person who is in a position of familial or custodial authority. He could face life in prison.
Jones was working as a football coach and security guard at American Senior High School, located at 18350 NW 67th Ave. in the county’s unincorporated County Club neighborhood, when he began having a sexual relationship with a student, according to the warrant.
The warrant states that the victim was 17 at the time and participating in the school’s football program in August 2012. Deputies said she was working in the athletic office on the football team’s schedule under Jones’ supervision when Jones entered the office, turned off the light and approached her.
“The subject picked the victim up from the chair, kissed her and pinned her against a wall” before raping the student, according to the warrant.
The warrant states that the victim “was in shock and froze” when the sexual assault occurred.

Deputies said the student and Jones subsequently had “consensual” sexual intercourse three more times at the school before she turned 18.
They said that after the student turned 18, she and Jones began having consensual sexual intercourse at her home and developed a relationship while she was still attending high school.
The warrant states that Jones worked at the school from 2007 through 2019 and was involved with the school’s football program during the alleged incidents.
The Miami-Dade County jail website did not list Jones as an inmate as of Tuesday morning.
MDCR told Local 10 News in a statement that Jones has since been “relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.”
