Miami’s new beer spa blends relaxation with a cold one

MIAMI — Forget grabbing a beer after a long day.

At Miami’s first beer spa, customers can now relax in a private soaking tub while enjoying a cold one nearby.

Hop ‘N Spa recently opened in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, offering private wellness sessions that combine beer-themed ingredients with traditional spa amenities.

“A beer spa is a private wellness experience where customers have their own private spa, and they get to enjoy the benefits of beer — not only drinking it, but we have our own soak that they get to soak their bodies in,” said Adrian Nazarett, the spa’s co-owner.

Nazarett, a Navy veteran, said the idea came from a trip to Iceland with his wife. The couple was traveling around the country in a camper van when they stopped at a brewery and discovered a beer spa.

“My wife and I were in a camper van just driving around the island. We saw a brewery on the way, and I love beer, so we were like, let’s go check out the brewery and they had a beer spa in there and we’re like, ‘What is this? We have to do it.’ And that’s where we found it. We fell in love with it,” he said.

The experience is not quite what the name might suggest. Customers don’t actually soak in beer. Instead, they add a mixture of ingredients to clean water in their private tubs.

“When the guests get here, we’ll add the ingredients of their soak into their tubs. That way they can see that it’s just clean water and they see exactly what is going into their bath,” Nazarett said.

The soak includes hops, brewer’s yeast and Epsom salt.

“The hops — the green stuff —give beer its aroma,” he said. “They release B vitamins into the water that can help your skin. The brewer’s yeast may also help fight some of the things that cause pimples and zits. And Epsom salt just makes the water feel a little better on your skin.”

Each private room has two soaking tubs, a sauna, music and a beer tap located next to the tub.

The concept combines two of the things Nazarett and his wife enjoy most.

“It just mixes two things that we both love. She loves spas, and I love beer. It’s an activity that we love to do together,” he said.

Nazarett said the couple wanted to bring the concept back home to Miami and create a place where people could enjoy a different kind of night out.

“There are plenty of bars, spas and restaurants, this kind of gives something different,” he added.

The spa also serves nonalcoholic drinks and wine.

For its grand opening, Hop ‘N Spa is offering a $150 promotion for a 60-minute private session for one or two people. The business is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
