Red Cross helping 2 women after house fire in Hallandale Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — About 60 firefighters responded to a house fire in Hallandale Beach Monday afternoon, authorities said.

According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue officials, at about 11:53 a.m., they received reports about smoke and flames coming from a single-family home in the 600 block of Northwest Ninth Court.

The first fire rescue units arrived within three minutes and immediately began an “aggressive interior attack,” officials said, adding that about 60 firefighters ultimately responded to the scene.

Crews searched the home, secured the utilities and brought the fire under control, officials said.

The American Red Cross is now assisting two women who live at the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
