MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are investigating after they said a man was shot early Saturday morning in northwest Miami-Dade.

A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said deputies responded around 6:20 a.m. to Northwest 24th Avenue and Northwest 62nd Street in the county’s Brownsville area after receiving reports of a person shot.
Investigators said the victim was walking in the area when he was struck by gunfire from an unknown suspect and did not initially realize he had been shot.
Deputies said they found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his lower extremities.

They said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition.
Authorities said MDSO’s Northside General Investigations Unit is handling the case.
