{"id":1252,"date":"2026-05-28T21:05:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T21:05:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=1252"},"modified":"2026-05-28T21:05:52","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T21:05:52","slug":"pompano-beach-couple-jailed-after-young-daughter-tests-positive-for-cocaine-deputies-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=1252","title":{"rendered":"Pompano Beach couple jailed after young daughter tests positive for cocaine, deputies say"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>POMPANO BEACH, Fla. \u2014 A husband and wife are facing child neglect charges after Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies said one of their young daughters tested positive for cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=1250\">AP Exclusive: Stop AAPI Hate launches a nonprofit to mobilize voters before midterms<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Records show that authorities took Charles Bernard Adams, 42, and Alexandra Shana Adams, 34, both of Pompano Beach, into custody on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to a BSO arrest report, they are the parents of two daughters, ages 2 and 4.<\/p>\n<p>The report doesn\u2019t state which of the two girls tested positive for the drug, but says deputies were called the couple\u2019s home last Thursday after medics took one of the girls to the hospital after she was found unresponsive.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said Charles Adams told them that he had put the girl to bed for a nap at around noon and the couple took a nap as well. According to the report, Charles Adams told deputies that he was awoken by the girl \u201cand her shallow breathing,\u201d leading him to call 911.<\/p>\n<p>Medics took the girl to Broward Health Imperial Point and later to Broward Health Medical Center\u2019s pediatric emergency room, where she tested positive for cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=1248\">Miami Beach hosts American Black Film Festival<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Authorities said both Charles and Alexandra Adams tested positive for multiple drugs, including amphetamines, benzodiazepines and kratom.<\/p>\n<p>Workers with the Florida Department of Children and Families took both girls into state custody.<\/p>\n<p>Both parents are now each facing two counts of child neglect, records show, and a judge ordered that both be held on a $30,000 bond.
