DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. \u2014 FBI agents arrested a South Florida teacher following a raid at his Deerfield Beach home on Thursday, accusing him of sending and receiving videos of children being sexually abused \u2015 and discussing attempts to get explicit photos of his students.<\/p>\n

Patrick Conor Russell, 37, taught at Saint Andrew\u2019s School, a private Episcopal boarding school at 3900 Jog Road in Boca Raton. He has since been fired, school representatives say.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, the investigation into Russell began after FBI agents in the Cincinnati area executed a search warrant on another person, identified as \u201cSubject 1,\u201d as part of an investigation into child sexual abuse material.<\/p>\n

Agents said as they searched a device belonging to \u201cSubject 1,\u201d they found thousands of files of child sexual abuse material and reviewed chats on messaging app Zangi. They said they identified chats with a user going by the handle of \u201cJack C,\u201d later revealed to be Russell.<\/p>\n

Authorities said the two exchanged links involving \u201csexually explicit content involving minors\u201d and Russell made remarks expressing an interest in \u201cteen boys and girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, Russell discussed a sexual roleplay scenario in which \u201cSubject 1\u2033 was \u201ca student in my high school English class\u201d and expressed sexual desires for his students.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Russell further \u201cdiscussed being a teacher and a coach\u201d and sent \u201cSubject 1\u2033 apparent photos of boys who attended his school and \u201cmade sexually explicit comments about these apparent students,\u201d whom they said he described as \u201ctwo cuties I know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Russell, agents said, \u201calso discussed wanting to find someone who can \u2018bait\u2019 the students at his school into sending nude pictures\u201d and described seeing his students naked in locker rooms as a coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaha it\u2019s both the best and the worst,\u201d agents said Russell told the other person. \u201cGet to see them so much. But too risky to try much more. Which is why I\u2019m always in search of someone who can bait to try and get nudes of them!! Lol.\u201d <\/p>\n

Agents said he added, \u201cAlthough\u2026.when I\u2019m helping them stretch I get to touch them. Thighs. Waist. Arms. Chest. Even touched some bulges before. Hehe.\u201d <\/p>\n

Authorities said the two were also in a group chat dedicated to sharing child sexual abuse content. <\/p>\n

According to the complaint, agents took Russell into custody as he left his Deerfield Beach home and searched his home and devices. The complaint states that he told agents \u201che has been \u2018battling\u2019 this for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile (Russell) says he has never touched a minor inappropriately, he admitted to engaging in inappropriate conversations about minors, some of which were sexual in nature,\u201d FBI Special Agent Kristin Chandler wrote in the complaint.<\/p>\n

Authorities said a search of Russell\u2019s phone indicated he remained in and interacted with group chats dedicated to sharing child sexual abuse videos.<\/p>\n

Records show Russell had been scheduled to appear in Fort Lauderdale federal court on Friday morning. As of Friday afternoon, he was being held in the Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office Main Jail facility on behalf of the U.S. Marshals Service.<\/p>\n

A representative from St. Andrew\u2019s School shared a message that Head of School Ethan Shapiro sent to parents following Russell\u2019s arrest, reading, in part:<\/p>\n
