BELLE GLADE, Fla. \u2014 The \u201cNawf Way\u201d gang operated in western Palm Beach County\u2019s Belle Glade, an agricultural town near the edge of Lake Okeechobee. <\/p>\n

Palm Beach Sheriff\u2019s Office Capt. Michael Ott said it had started as the Four Way crew in the area of Northwest 11th Street in 2020.<\/p>\n

Ott said the gang was linked to drug trafficking, over 100 firearms, 62 shootings, homicides, attempted homicides, and armed burglaries and robberies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are other gangs in our western community, but this one was significant,\u201d Ott said during a news conference on Thursday. <\/p>\n

Ott stood near a poster with 19 pictures of Black men and teens, whom Sheriff Rick Bradshaw identified as \u201cbad guys.\u201d Ott said deputies arrested one more suspect after they printed the poster. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey think they own the streets, they don\u2019t own the streets,\u201d Bradshaw said. \u201cThe community owns the streets.\u201d <\/p>\n

Several PBSO units worked with the FBI and the Henry County Sheriff\u2019s Office, as they identified the 20 gang members, also known as \u201cThe Sharks,\u201d according to Ott. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been a one-year enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling this gang\u2019s enterprise,\u201d said Ott, who estimated the gang has about 50 members. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe message to the bad guys is: It\u2019s not a matter of if, we\u2019re going to get you! It\u2019s a matter of when because we have a room reserved for you right back here at my hotel,\u201d Bradshaw said.<\/p>\n

Ott said the 20 suspects in custody faced charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. <\/p>\n
