{"id":148,"date":"2026-05-12T15:05:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T15:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=148"},"modified":"2026-05-12T15:05:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T15:05:11","slug":"smash-and-grab-man-accused-of-stealing-from-slot-machine-inside-hialeah-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=148","title":{"rendered":"Smash and grab: Man accused of stealing from slot machine inside Hialeah market"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>HIALEAH, Fla.  \u2014 A Miami man is accused of stealing about $2,000 from a slot machine inside a Hialeah market after police said he broke into the machine with a metal rod earlier this month. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=146\">Miami PD: Ex-Silverspot Cinema employee arrested after nearly $22,000 in cash deposits goes missing<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to an arrest report, the incident happened on May 2 at Bora Bora Market, located at 3296 Palm Ave. in Hialeah.<\/p>\n<p>Hialeah police identified the suspect as 50-year-old Alejandro Izaguirre, of Miami\u2019s West Little River neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p>Officers responded to the market around 3:15 p.m. in reference to a grand theft and criminal mischief investigation.<\/p>\n<p>A Bora Bora employee told police that he reviewed surveillance footage and saw an unknown man damaging a slot machine with what appeared to be a metal rod. <\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, the footage showed the suspect entering the business around 1:30 p.m. to play the slot machine before later leaving and returning to his vehicle. <\/p>\n<p>Police said the man was then seen opening the trunk and driver-side door before returning to the market carrying the metal object.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=144\">Trump nominates David Cummins to head the TSA after a rocky period for the agency<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They said the suspect then broke the slot machine, causing more than $1,000 in damage, and removed about $2,000 in cash before fleeing in a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>The victim told police the suspect had visited the business before and may have been named Alejandro, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The report states that an officer reviewing the surveillance footage on Monday recognized the suspect as Alejandro Menendez Izaguirre, whom the officer had previously arrested in connection with a similar incident last year.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators later responded to Izaguirre\u2019s home and took him into custody.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, while officers were at the home, Izaguirre spontaneously told his girlfriend \u201cit was because of the slot machines\u201d after she asked why he was being arrested. <\/p>\n<p>Jail records show Izaguirre is facing one count each of third-degree grand theft and criminal mischief causing $1,000 or more in damage.<\/p>\n<p>As of Tuesday, his bond was listed as \u201cto be set\u201d in online Miami-Dade inmate records.
