MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A Miami-Dade County teacher accused of engaging in sex acts with a student is expected to be released Wednesday on house arrest, Local 10 News learned in court.<\/p>\n

The teacher, Michael Enriquez, 53, was not in court Wednesday, but his attorney and prosecutors came to an agreement for him to be released on house arrest.<\/p>\n

As part of the conditions of his release, he will not be permitted to leave his home except to meet with his attorney and he must stay away from the victim, American Senior High School, and all minors.<\/p>\n

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office, Enriquez had a \u201csexual relationship\u201d with the victim, who is a student at American Senior High, that began in May 2025 when she was 17 years old.<\/p>\n

Deputies said Enriquez and the student went out after school twice last year — once in May and once in June \u2013 at which time they engaged in sex acts together.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s disgusting,\u201d a student at the school told Local 10 News on Tuesday. \u201cThe girl knew what she was doing, but he is a grown man. He knew what he was doing 20 times more — he\u2019s been there, done that — it\u2019s all wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to authorities, Enriquez and the victim did not communicate over summer break, but when the new school year began in August 2025, the two resumed their \u201csexual relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities said their final encounter occurred on May 14, 2026, which was the only time they had sexual intercourse.<\/p>\n

The victim was 18 at the time of their final sexual encounter, according to Enriquez\u2019s arrest report.<\/p>\n

Authorities did not disclose how they were alerted to the alleged crimes or how they discovered the dates and details.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s scary that someone who deals with so many students could be talking to a girl maybe my age or maybe a little older, because we usually trust teachers, we talk to them a lot. We don\u2019t know if the girl was going through something, if she thought that was the only way,\u201d Samira Gonzalez, who is a freshman at the school, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefinitely as an adult, you should know where to draw the line,\u201d a student named Christopher told Local 10. \u201cYou have these young ladies — they\u2019re probably fearing right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade County Public Schools confirmed that Enriquez will be fired.<\/p>\n
