{"id":1642,"date":"2026-06-04T10:04:58","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T10:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=1642"},"modified":"2026-06-04T10:04:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T10:04:58","slug":"republican-led-house-votes-to-limit-trumps-war-powers-as-u-s-iran-skirmish-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=1642","title":{"rendered":"Republican-led House votes to limit Trump\u2019s war powers as U.S.-Iran skirmish continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 As a U.S.-Iran skirmish intensified, the Republican-led House voted 215-208 on Wednesday to limit President Donald Trump\u2019s Iran war powers despite House Speaker Mike Johnson\u2019s opposition.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate\u2019s final vote is pending, as lawmakers seek to find a balance between the congressional authority to declare war and the commander-in-chief\u2019s power to execute military action. <\/p>\n<p>During his House Foreign Affairs Committee testimony, State Secretary Marco Rubio said that if the resolution passed, it would interfere with the ongoing diplomatic talks because Iranians would think, \u201dWe won\u2019t be able to do anything to them, so why make a deal?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. military struck Iran on Feb. 28. The Pentagon referred to it as \u201cOperation Epic Fury,\u201d which Rubio said had concluded.
