FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 Rita Case, president, CEO and owner of Rick Case Automotive Group, has been named the Broward County Police Benevolent Association\u2019s 2026 Humanitarian of the Year.<\/p>\n

Case is the first woman to receive the award, according to the organization.<\/p>\n

The honor recognizes people whose work reflects compassion, leadership and a dedication to serving others while making a meaningful impact in the community.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, Case also announced a $28,000 donation to The HOPE Fund, which was established in 1998 to assist Broward PBA members and their families during times of crisis and personal tragedy.<\/p>\n

The fund also awards the Sergeant Christopher Reyka Scholarship Award each year to a child of a Broward County PBA member. Case announced she will fund a $1,000 scholarship going forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a tremendous amount of respect for our law enforcement officers. They keep our roads and community safe. I tip my hat in gratitude and admiration for their bravery,\u201d Case said in a statement. \u201cIt is such an honor to be named Humanitarian of the Year by the esteemed Broward County Police Benevolent Association.\u201d<\/p>\n

Case said officers \u201cshow up when we need them,\u201d patrol neighborhoods, protect businesses, attend community events and help members and their families in times of need.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey truly exemplify what it means to be a humanitarian,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Rod Skirvin, president of the Broward County PBA, said Case was selected because of her longtime commitment to philanthropy and public service.<\/p>\n

\u201cRita Case represents the very best of what it means to serve a community,\u201d Skirvin said in a statement. \u201cHer compassion, generosity and unwavering commitment to helping others has touched countless lives throughout South Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

Skirvin said Case has supported charitable causes, stood beside first responders and helped those in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the BCPBA, it is my honor to present Rita Case with our Humanitarian of the Year Award in recognition of a lifetime dedicated to making a difference,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Case and the Rick Case Automotive Group have long supported charitable organizations across South Florida. According to the company, Rita and her late husband, Rick Case, created and led fundraising initiatives that have raised more than $125 million for organizations in the region.<\/p>\n

Those efforts have supported groups including the Boys & Girls Clubs, Feeding South Florida, Habitat for Humanity, Joe DiMaggio Children\u2019s Hospital, Junior Achievement of South Florida, United Way, Women In Distress and many others.<\/p>\n
