Jesus Fuentes were recognized during Tuesday night\u2019s Lauderdale-by-the-Sea commission meeting for their quick actions following a near-drowning during Memorial Day weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m just truly blessed that he\u2019s alive and well, here with us,\u201d said Espinoza. \u201cHonestly it was all a blur, I was just really focused. I didn\u2019t really know anyone was around us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Body camera footage captured the frantic moments after 5-year-old Tyler Nelson was pulled from a pool at the Plunge Beach Resort on May 24. <\/p>\n<p>At the time, Tyler had no pulse so the off-duty Espinoza immediately started CPR.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=2088\">Democrat Graham Platner will try to unseat GOP Sen. Susan Collins in a critical Senate matchup<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fuentes and two off-duty nurses also jumped in to help.<\/p>\n<p>Within minutes, Tyler regained a pulse and started to breathe again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just a humbling experience,\u201d said Fuentes. \u201cAt the end of the day, we didn\u2019t do anything that anybody with our training wouldn\u2019t do. Our training just took over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tyler spent two days in the ICU before being released with a clean bill of health.<\/p>\n<p>His mother said she would forever be grateful to those who saved her son\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re angels, they allowed God to literally use them to be a vessel to save my son,\u201d said Markita Pittman-Nelson. \u201cI mean, two firefighters and two nurses, what more could a person ask for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Added Fuentes: \u201cI understand it as a parent myself, I understand how emotional it is for her to still have Tyler around and how grateful she is to us. Like I said, at the end of the day, it\u2019s nothing that we think of.
