MIAMI \u2014 Soccer players under pressure move swiftly, and so do emotions during FIFA World Cup games. Mexicans\u2019 rollercoaster of emotions on Thursday in Miami included crying, screaming, singing, hugging, and dancing all in the same 15 minutes. <\/p>\n

On opening day, all eyes were on Mexico City\u2019s Azteca Stadium, which hosted over 80,820 fans. At bars in Miami\u2019s Wynwood, Mexicans and Mexican Americans celebrated a 2-0 victory over South Africa. <\/p>\n

Their chant in Spanish: \u201c\u00a1Que viva M\u00e9xico!”<\/p>\n

The \u201cAztec Nation\u201d is proud to be co-hosting the first 48-team World Cup tournament with Canada and the U.S. Juli\u00e1n Qui\u00f1ones and Ra\u00fal Jim\u00e9nez scored the goals to move ahead with three new points in Group A. <\/p>\n

The referee handed defender C\u00e9sar Montes one of the game\u2019s three red cards. Javier Aguirre, their coach, played for the national team in 1986 when Mexico hosted the World Cup and reached the quarterfinals, and he felt proud. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe didn\u2019t play well in the first half, but we could have gone into the break leading 3\u20130, and no one would have complained. We were far superior,\u201d Aguirre told reporters after the game. \u201cIn the second half, it felt like we relaxed a bit, but starting with a win is good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mexican fans ended the night by looking forward to their team\u2019s next challenging match against South Korea at 9 p.m. on June 18. Guadalajara will be the host city. <\/p>\n
