FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 A suspect who barricaded himself inside a Fort Lauderdale business Friday afternoon was taken into custody after a SWAT response that lasted several hours, police confirmed. <\/p>\n

According to Fort Lauderdale police, officers were called at approximately 2:42 p.m. to a business near the 800 block of Northwest 10th Terrace after receiving a report of a man who entered a restricted area and began \u201cacting erratically.\u201d <\/p>\n

Patrol officers, a K-9 unit, and members of Broward Sheriff\u2019s Office Aviation Unit searched the surrounding area but were temporarily unable to locate the man. Investigators later determined he was inside the business alone.<\/p>\n

Police said the suspect, who has only been identified as a male at this time, was not authorized to be inside the building.<\/p>\n

Authorities said police, SWAT officers and crisis negotiators responded to the scene and attempted to communicate with the individual.<\/p>\n

Shortly afterward, police announced that the suspect \u201csurrendered peacefully\u201d and was taken into custody. No injuries have been reported at this time. <\/p>\n

Police have not released any information about why the suspect barricaded himself inside the business, and his charges have not yet been announced. <\/p>\n
