{"id":247,"date":"2026-05-13T20:34:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T20:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=247"},"modified":"2026-05-13T20:34:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T20:34:09","slug":"pair-arrested-after-130-mph-chase-ends-in-crash-bailout-on-floridas-turnpike-fhp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=247","title":{"rendered":"Pair arrested after 130+ mph chase ends in crash, bailout on Florida\u2019s Turnpike: FHP"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>HOMESTEAD, Fla.  \u2014 Two men were arrested Wednesday after Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a driver in a BMW led them on a high-speed chase on Florida\u2019s Turnpike in Miami-Dade County, then struck a guardrail, and fled on foot before both suspects were captured. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=245\">Bam Adebayo partners with \u2018MDMotivator\u2019 to surprise single mother with car, cash<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Highway Patrol identified the suspects in an arrest report as 25-year-olds Shemar Amory Rattray, of Miami Gardens, and Jerrell Anthony Louis Watson.<\/p>\n<p>The report states that troopers observed a BMW 530i traveling about 100 mph southbound on the Homestead Extension of Florida\u2019s Turnpike near the Southwest 74th Street entrance ramp shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>A trooper later clocked the vehicle at 111 mph during a pace check, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>When troopers initiated a traffic stop near Mile Marker 27, investigators said the BMW initially pulled onto the shoulder before speeding off as an officer approached.<\/p>\n<p>They said the car fled at speeds exceeding 130 mph, exited near Southwest Eighth Street and struck a guardrail, causing damage and disabling the car.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=243\">Russia fires about 800 drones at Ukraine despite recent talk by Putin and Trump of possible peace<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the report, both suspects then fled on foot in different directions. Troopers said one was quickly captured after a short foot chase, while the second was detained shortly afterward.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said Rattray was identified as the driver after he was found with the BMW\u2019s key fob in his pocket.<\/p>\n<p>Jail records show he was arrested on charges including fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement at high speed, reckless driving, resisting an officer without violence and driving with a suspended license. <\/p>\n<p>Watson was arrested on a charge of resisting an officer without violence, records show.<\/p>\n<p>As of Wednesday afternoon, both men were being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
