NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 A student reported a classmate had a weapon on Tuesday at Silver Lakes Middle School in North Lauderdale, according to Broward County Public Schools. <\/p>\n

The school resource officer reported finding a student with a box cutter at the school at 7600 Tam Oshanter Boulevard, according to a spokesperson for BCPS. <\/p>\n

During the investigation, the school was on the \u201csecure status\u201d safety protocol with students locked in their classrooms, and later returned to normal operations, according to the BCPS spokesperson. <\/p>\n
