{"id":854,"date":"2026-05-22T05:34:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T05:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=854"},"modified":"2026-05-22T05:34:00","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T05:34:00","slug":"jet-ski-worker-rescues-dog-struggling-in-fort-lauderdale-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=854","title":{"rendered":"Jet ski worker rescues dog struggling in Fort Lauderdale water"},"content":{"rendered":"<article>\n<p>FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. \u2014 A rescue in Fort Lauderdale turned into a story of being in the right place at the right time after a man\u2019s quick thinking helped save a struggling dog from the water.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=852\">Man accused of stealing high-dollar FedEx parcels for Russian fraud group<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Jet Ski FL in Fort Lauderdale, workers are used to helping people safely head out on the water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt takes someone special to manage this dock and help protect the waterways,\u201d said Jon Rosen, owner of Jet Ski FL.<\/p>\n<p>But Thursday afternoon, the emergency no one expected came with four legs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe and my boss, Jon &#8212; we were at the boat ramp,\u201d said Travis Howe. \u201cWe were launching some jet ski. I got a call from a customer that there was a dog in the water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Howe said the dog had been struggling for several minutes and was unable to make it back to shore. Time was running out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJump on the jet ski, run over straight to them, rescue the dog,\u201d Howe said.<\/p>\n<p>Video shows Howe and an exhausted German Shepherd sharing a jet ski after the dog was pulled from the water.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/southfloridamovingguides.com\/?p=850\">Man accused of trying to solicit girls, 11 and 14, online<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I found it, there was a coconut in his mouth,\u201d Howe said. \u201cHe was gasping for breath. I pull him up and he was just resting right on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>People on shore applauded the rescue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople on the side, they were clapping and stuff,\u201d Howe said. \u201cThey were thankful for that because no one could get in the water to get it out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rosen said Howe earned a new nickname after the rescue: \u201cSuper Trav.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For Howe, helping animals is simply second nature.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I see anything &#8212; if I see a cat, an iguana &#8212; I see it struggling, I\u2019m going to take it out of the water and put it up on land, to be honest with you,\u201d Howe said with a laugh.<\/p>\n<p>With the help of another boat company, the Jet Ski FL team was eventually able to track down the dog\u2019s owner.
