MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 A Miami Gardens woman was arrested Thursday after deputies said they discovered a fully operational dental office inside a home where unlicensed dental procedures were allegedly being performed.<\/p>\n

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office, Maria Del Carmen Fontaine-Uliver, 33, was taken into custody following an undercover investigation tied to allegations of illegal dentistry operations that were occurring at a home.<\/p>\n

The investigation began after the Florida Department of Health received an anonymous complaint alleging that a man named Rolando Quintana Garcia was practicing dentistry without a license from his home located in the 2400 block of Northwest 90th Street.<\/p>\n

Detectives said they later found a business registered to Quintana Garcia under the name Smiles Everywhere LLC, which was listed as active in Sunbiz records as of March 2025. The records reportedly identified Quintana Garcia as the registered agent and Fontaine-Uliver as the business manager.<\/p>\n

Investigators said they learned that Fontaine-Uliver does hold an active dental radiographer license in Florida, which allows her to take dental X-rays under the supervision of a licensed dentist. However, according to the Department of Health, she is not licensed to perform dental procedures independently.<\/p>\n

Authorities also confirmed that Quintana Garcia does not possess a license to practice dentistry in Florida.<\/p>\n

During the investigation, undercover detectives found an Instagram account associated with Smiles Everywhere and later communicated with Quintana Garcia through WhatsApp to request a consultation for veneers, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Detectives said Quintana Garcia scheduled an appointment for two undercover detectives for Thursday. <\/p>\n

When the detectives arrived at the home, they were directed to a waiting room adjacent to what investigators described as a dental office setup, authorities said.<\/p>\n

According to the arrest report, the detectives observed Fontaine-Uliver actively performing dental work on a patient seated in a reclining dental chair. Deputies said she told the patient to notify her if she experienced pain or discomfort so an anesthetic could be administered.<\/p>\n

At that point, investigators moved in and detained Fontaine-Uliver, the arrest report states.<\/p>\n

After being advised of her Miranda rights in Spanish, Fontaine-Uliver agreed to speak with detectives without an attorney present, according to the report. <\/p>\n

She reportedly told investigators that she is licensed in Cuba but not in the United States and admitted she had been performing a dental crown procedure on the patient.<\/p>\n

Detectives later conducted a search of the residence after Fontaine-Uliver signed a consent-to-search form, the report states.<\/p>\n

During the search, authorities said they found what appeared to be a fully operational dental office, including six vials of Xylocaine, a local anesthetic used in dental procedures.<\/p>\n

Investigators noted Fontaine-Uliver is not licensed to possess or administer the medication. The vials were seized as evidence.<\/p>\n

Fontaine-Uliver was arrested and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. <\/p>\n

She faces charges of practicing dentistry without a license and possessing prescription drugs with the intent to sell or deliver. <\/p>\n

As of Friday morning, Fontaine-Uliver remained held at TGK where her bond was listed as \u201cto be set.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear whether Quintana Garcia will also face charges in the case. <\/p>\n
