KEY WEST, Fla. \u2014 The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a 48-foot boat that sank on Sunday with 700 gallons of diesel fuel at the Perry Marina in Key West. <\/p>\n

U.S. Coast Guard investigators reported that there was \u201can active diesel discharge from the vessel\u2019s bow and stern\u201d and used a \u201ccontainment boom.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Coast Guard announced \u201cthe use of federal funds to lift the vessel and remove all remaining fuel and oil\u201d to protect the \u201csensitive marine environment of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.\u201d<\/p>\n
