NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A North Miami Beach police captain was arrested Tuesday night by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for video voyeurism, online jail records show.

Records show Jose Maya, 40, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at about 7:50 p.m.
“The North Miami Beach Police Department is aware of the arrest involving one of our captains. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and upholding the highest professional standards for our community,” the NMBPD said in a statement Wednesday.

North Miami Beach Police Chief Juan Pinillos said Maya has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the case along with an internal investigation.

As of Wednesday morning, Maya remained held at TGK without bond.
