Gator takes a dip in Pembroke Pines pool

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A dangerous invader took a cool dip over the weekend in the backyard pool of a South Florida home.

Liliana Gonzalez was inside her home in the Laguna Isles neighborhood in Pembroke Pines early Sunday morning when her dog started barking.

Gonzalez looked outside and saw an alligator taking a dip in her pool!

She called for help and a trapper responded, safely fishing the reptile out and relocating it to a more suitable home.

Gonzalez believes the gator climbed the fence to get into her backyard.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission urges people who live near ponds and canals to be alert and never feed wild alligators.

Those with concerns about an alligator near their home should call the FWC’s Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-392-4286.
