DAVIE, Fla. — Davie police arrested a detective with the Miami Shores Police Department on Thursday.

Broward jail records show that Detective Shmueal Mauda, 36, was jailed on an out-of-state hold on five counts of identity theft. According to Friday morning court proceedings, the charges stem from a sealed case out of Washington state.
Further details weren’t immediately available as of Friday morning.
Davie police also arrested a co-defendant, Elisha Mauda, 39. It wasn’t immediately how the detective may be related to him.

In a brief statement, an MSPD spokesperson said that the agency was aware of Shmueal Mauda’s arrest and was “fully cooperating with its law enforcement partners.”
It said Mauda, also known as Sam Mauda, was relieved of duty without pay.
For their part, Davie police said, “This is an ongoing, active investigation so we have no further information to release at this time.”
