Wilton Manors police said officers were called to the Manor Grove Apartments for an armed robbery.
The situation escalated when the person of interest refused to leave his unit.
Neighbors said they watched as Wilton Manors and Fort Lauderdale police officers surrounded the building.
“I’ve lived here about 8 years. It was pretty nerve-racking to see, for sure,” one neighbor said.
Alex Dorsey, a neighbor, said an Amazon worker had come to drop off a package and take a photo of it before picking up the package again.

“Amazon worker came to drop off a package,” Dorsey said. “Take a picture of the package then proceeded to pick up the package right afterwards. Neighbor wasn’t having it, it’s Florida, came out with a gun, you know.”
Another neighbor, Paul Baker, shared video of a man he said was his neighbor. In one clip, a man can be seen walking outside with a firearm in his hand. Later, police can be heard telling him to surrender peacefully.
Baker said he was surprised by what happened.
“I couldn’t believe it. He’s such a nice guy. He’s always been very friendly to me,” Baker said.
Police arrested the man and charged him with aggravated assault with a firearm.
“I’m just glad that it was all resolved,” said Yarden Ben-David, a WPLG executive producer.
