MIAMI — Dr. Ranjith Ramasamy, who is facing three counts of sexual battery in Miami-Dade County, released a video on Friday claiming he was the victim of “slanderous allegations.” Records show a Miami detective disagrees.

In the video, Ramasamy, 45, an award-winning urologist, described his accusers as “disgruntled members of the university community.” Records show the University of Miami employed him from 2015 to 2024.
Ramasamy was the director of the Reproductive Urology Fellowship program at the Miller School of Medicine and an assistant professor of urology from 2015 to 2020, and he was a professor from 2020 to 2024, according to the warrant.
“The three victims were not the only former students/employees of [Ramasamy] to make such a claim against him,” a detective wrote, according to a statement of facts in support of an Oct. 20 warrant for Ramasamy’s arrest.
A Miami detective, who reported interviewing six victims and moving forward with three cases, described the victims as men aged 28, 37, and 40, according to the arrest warrant.
The detective described the 28-year-old man as a student who viewed Ramasamy as a mentor. The 37-year-old man had a brother who was Ramasamy’s student, according to the warrant. The 40-year-old man was a surgical resident while Ramasamy was his supervising attending physician.

In 2024, Ramasamy moved to the United Arab Emirates to work as a consultant urologist at the Jumeirah American Clinic in Dubai, according to the warrant.
“I never sexually assaulted anyone,” Ramasamy said in the video after he surrendered to deputies at Miami International Airport on Thursday.
Ramasamy appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer, who ordered him to stay away from the three victims, set his bond at $120,000 bond, and ordered house arrest with a GPS monitor, according to court records.
Court records show Ramasamy’s arraignment is at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Tany Brinkley is presiding over the case.
