Fort Lauderdale shooting leaves man critically injured, another detained, cops say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man was critically injured in a shooting Saturday morning in Fort Lauderdale, police confirmed.

Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded to the 2300 block of Northwest Ninth Court at about 8:05 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.

Officers said they found a man who had been shot and began life-saving measures.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue medics took the man, who has not been identified, to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators said the shooter remained at the scene and was detained by police.

They said the investigation remains ongoing.

Police did not immediately release additional information about the victim, suspect or circumstances surrounding the shooting.
