Thief busted after running from cops at Aventura Mall

AVENTURA, Fla. — Police in Aventura arrested a man who they said led them on a chase throughout a busy shopping mall.

Eventually, officers said they took Yordan Soublett Herrera, 33, into custody inside an Aventura Mall parking garage.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Video showed Soublett Herrera running from police and even hiding under cars while trying to evade capture.

During his attempt to flee from police, officers said Soublett Herrera ran into and knocked over innocent bystanders, running down an escalator while actively discarding stolen merchandise.

Officials said Soublett Herrera, who is on felony probation for theft, has a lengthy criminal history, with multiple prior theft convictions, five felony convictions, and an active no bond felony theft warrant out of Broward County.
