MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 34-year-old man faced charges on Friday in Miami-Dade County after deputies accused him of causing a fatal crash while under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana, records show.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Kareem Johnson at 12:20 a.m. on Thursday in the Gladeview-West Little River area, according to a deputy’s arrest report.
Johnson, of Fort Lauderdale, “failed to stop at a red light and struck the side of the victim’s vehicle” on May 9 in the Brownsville neighborhood, according to deputies.
MDSO deputies and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the crash shortly after 9 p.m. on May 9 at Northwest 22 Avenue and 50th Street. MDFR personnel pronounced a man dead.

Prosecutors filed the felony case against Johnson on July 30, and a judge issued a warrant for his arrest, according to Miami-Dade County court records.
Miami-Dade corrections booked Johnson shortly after 3:10 p.m. on Thursday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records.
Johnson faced charges of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter. He was denied bond. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Lody Jean was set to preside over the case.
