Video shows man abusing, killing ducks in Pembroke Pines, cops say

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Police in Pembroke Pines are investigating a disturbing video circulating on social media that they say appears to show a man abusing and killing several ducks, including ducklings.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department said it was made aware of the video early Thursday and that its Investigations Division is actively investigating the incident.

In the video recorded this past Sunday from a nearby dental office, which was blurred because of its graphic nature, a man appears to stomp on an adult duck and stand on it for several minutes. A second video appears to show several ducklings scattering as the man attempts to step on them.

The incident reportedly occurred near University Drive and Southwest 13th Street in Pembroke Pines.

Manuel Cavallini who owns the dental office told Local 10 News that he thought it was “crazy” for someone to kill ducks.

Four days later, the dead duck remained in the grass.

Police said the actions depicted in the video are “illegal and cruel” and emphasized that the department does not tolerate crimes against people or animals. The said he might be known to frequent a local McDonald’s.

“We don’t know if this is the first time he’s done this or if he’s victimizing other animals or other people,” said PPPD Cpt. Chris Rogers. “We want to catch this individual. If he needs psychiatric help, we’ll help him that way. If he’s just committing crimes for the sake of committing crimes, we want to ensure that he’s prosecuted.”

The age or identity of the man seen in the video was not immediately known.
