MIAMI — The Federal Aviation Administration issued a full ground stop at Miami International Airport on Sunday after an Amazon cargo plane went off a runway and crashed into several vehicles.
Five people were killed in the crash and five others were injured, three in critical condition, officials said.
Travelers inside the airport were left dealing with extended delays and large crowds as a result of the chaos outside.
One of MIA’s four runways reopened around 4:15 p.m., and a second was opened around 30 minutes later, according to officials.

The FAA’s real-time airport status information for MIA stated that no planes would be allowed to depart until at least 5:30 p.m.
