Seniors, 73 and 89, accused of armed cocaine, marijuana trafficking at Allapattah drug den

MIAMI — Police say two seniors, including a man pushing 90, were armed cocaine and marijuana traffickers out of a drug den they ran in Miami’s Allapattah neighborhood.

Police arrested Magdaleno Medina, 73, and Cesar Valdes, 89, at a home in the 1700 block of Northwest 19th Street on Wednesday. That home served as the drug den, they said, and was the pair’s listed address.

According to the Miami Police Department, detectives did an undercover cocaine buy at the home in August. Medina, police said, sold an undercover agent a baggie of cocaine for $60.

Then, on Wednesday afternoon, a SWAT team conducted a raid at the home.

An MPD report states that investigators found more than 140 grams of cocaine and nearly 1,300 grams of marijuana.

Authorities said they also found a .38 caliber revolver and more than a dozen rounds.

Both men were taken into custody on several felony charges, including armed cocaine trafficking, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a place for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

The Cuban nationals also face Immigration and Customs Enforcement holds, according to jail records.
