MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Amazon has paused operations with cargo carrier 21 Air following the deadly crash of Flight 7598 at Miami International Airport earlier this month, a spokesperson confirmed Sunday evening.

The announcement comes as the investigation into the Sept. 6 crash continues and crews slowly begin dismantling the aircraft.
Flight 7598, a Boeing 767 operated by 21 Air, careened off the runway at MIA, striking a van with five people inside. Five people were killed and five others were injured.
The aircraft is believed to have been traveling too fast for a safe landing before going off the runway.
In a statement, an Amazon spokesperson said the company decided to pause its operations with 21 Air after reviewing circumstances surrounding the crash.
“Safety has always been our top priority, whether in our own operations or when we’re working with partners,” the statement read. “After the tragic incident last weekend, we’ve spent time supporting the investigation and reviewing some of the surrounding circumstances, and we’ve decided to pause our operations with 21 Air, the operator of Flight 7598. We’ll continue working to support the investigation and everyone affected.”
Amazon has worked with the North Carolina-based company since 2024.
Lawsuits filed following crash
The announcement comes as lawsuits have begun to be filed in connection with the crash.

Local 10 News spoke with an attorney representing a surviving victim who has filed a civil complaint seeking damages for personal injuries.
“Many things have to go wrong to lead to such a terrible tragedy,” the attorney said. “So was there apparent errors on behalf of the pilots? Absolutely. Were there security lapses on behalf of 21? Apparently so.”
The attorney also spoke about what his client, Sebastian Perdomo Torres, experienced during the crash.
“You know, sometimes in these incidents, for better or worse, people lose consciousness. They have head injuries, things of that nature,” the attorney said. “Sebastian, Mr. Perdomo Torres, experienced the whole thing, every second of it.”
The National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
