Man dies after being struck by Brightline train in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man was killed early Tuesday morning after being struck by a Brightline train in Fort Lauderdale, police confirmed.

Officers with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said they responded to a report of a Brightline train striking a pedestrian just north of the Broward Boulevard crossing, near the Brightline station just before 1:30 a.m.

Police said they arrived at the scene and found man who had been struck by the train. They said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities said an investigation is underway into the man’s death. No other information about his age or identity was immediately released.

Police said traffic along Broward Boulevard and Southwest Second Street was impacted following the incident but had reopened by about 3:30 a.m.
