FHP: Man killed after being struck by car on Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade; road closed

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man was killed early Wednesday after being struck by a car on the Florida Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at about 4:50 a.m. near Southwest 216th Street.

They said the driver of a Honda Civic was traveling south on the Turnpike when the driver struck a man who was standing outside a vehicle stopped on the right emergency shoulder.

The man, who has not been identified at this time, died at the scene from his injuries, according to investigators.

Authorities said the southbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed at Southwest 216th Street while authorities investigated the crash.
