Arrest made after southwest Miami-Dade teen shot in leg during argument, deputies say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Residents in a southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood say they went from hearing an argument Thursday night to hearing gunshots ring out, leaving a teenage boy shot in the leg.

Cecilia Richardson said she heard people arguing before hearing several gunshots.

“We just heard like two or three gunshots. They were just back to back,” Richardson said.

The sound of gunfire was captured on a Ring camera near Southwest 129th Avenue and 203rd Street. Residents soon learned someone had been shot outside their homes.

Richardson said a deputy blocked off the street as deputies investigated.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to reports of shots fired in the area just before 6:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a teenager who had been shot.

The victim, who has only been identified as a 16-year-old boy, was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center for treatment. Deputies say they canvassed the neighborhood as they searched for the shooter.

“It is really scary. I have a 14-year-old and a 10-year-old. We are always out doing stuff in the neighborhood,” Richardson said. “We have been here over 10 years and close to 15 years, and we have never had anything like this happen.”

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 shows what witnesses said was the suspect’s black truck speeding away moments after the shooting.

Investigators said the victim was sitting in a vehicle with another person when the two started arguing.

When the boy got out of the truck, deputies said 18-year-old Misael Aguilar Santurio opened fire, hitting the boy in the leg.

Deputies said Santurio was later found and arrested. Jail records show he is facing two counts each of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm.

As of Friday, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
