Humane Society of Broward seeks loving permanent home for Bourbon, Mel, other furry friends

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Bourbon, an 8-month-old Australian cattle dog mix, is looking for a forever home.

The 40-pound puppy recently arrived at the Humane Society of Broward, where staff have been working with him on commands and behavior. Shelter officials describe Bourbon as smart, treat-motivated and affectionate.

The shelter is currently near capacity, with dogs and cats waiting for adoptive families. Another featured animal, Mel, is a 3-year-old calico cat who has become more affectionate with staff after initially being hesitant around people.
