LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — One man is dead and another was hospitalized after a shooting early Sunday morning in Lauderdale Lakes, according to deputies.

One resident said she heard the gunfire from inside her home.
“We were all sitting in the house and then we just heard loud shots. It was like bow, bow, bow, and we were like, what’s going on outside? It’s big outside, like it’s a big thing going on,” she said.
Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies say the shooting left one man hospitalized with a gunshot wound. A second man was rushed to the hospital by someone who was at the scene when the shots rang out. That man has since died from his injuries.
Deputies were also seen escorting a man in handcuffs toward an ambulance. First responders treated an injury to his hand before he was placed into a cruiser and driven away for questioning.

Another resident described the shock of learning what happened.
“We came out here and the police here said two people ended up shot, and we were like, what!” she said.
As deputies worked the scene, residents were asked to wait outside while investigators continued their work.

The identities of both men are still unknown.
